Welcome to Yuba Counseling
Kyla Roberts, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #156574
At Yuba Counseling, therapy is a space to slow down, reconnect, and feel supported exactly where you are. I offer individual psychotherapy for adults seeking deeper understanding, healing from trauma, and more ease in their relationships, bodies, and daily lives.
Located in Nevada City, California, I provide both in-person sessions and telehealth throughout California. My work is grounded in warmth, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique story. Whether you are navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, identity exploration, or life transitions, therapy can be a place to gently make sense of what feels overwhelming and begin moving toward lasting change.
As a trauma-informed and trauma-trained therapist, I believe healing happens not only through insight, but through felt experience — learning how safety, connection, and regulation can live in the body again.

About me
I am a trauma-informed psychotherapist specializing in working with women and queer individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, and identity development. My approach is warm, grounded, and collaborative, and I strive to create a space where clients feel seen, affirmed, and supported without judgment.
As an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist, I welcome diverse identities, relationship structures, and lived experiences. I believe therapy works best when it feels authentic and human — a place where you don’t have to perform or have everything figured out.
Therapeutic Approaches
Trauma-Informed Care
Yuba Counseling blends grounding techniques, somatic awareness, narrative exposure, and culturally-responsive care to support healing from trauma and complex relationships.
We emphasize safety, consent, and collaborative goal setting, honoring individual pace while integrating evidence-based modalities and neurodivergent-friendly practices.
Mind-Body Approaches
Our approach centers nervous system regulation, empowering clients to expand window of tolerance, reduce reactivity, and cultivate authentic connection.
Trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and relationship-aware, sessions honor consent, agency, and chosen families.
Nervous System Regulation
We support nervous system regulation through grounding, breath, movement, and mindful awareness to reduce symptoms and improve daily functioning.
Relationship-focused care addresses ethical non-monogamy, queer identities, and gender diversity with empathy, boundaries, and clear communication.
